The Unhurried Life

Row, row, row your boat
gently down the stream,
warily, yet unhurried and confidently,
within the flow
and wisdom of the Tao,

Watchful, yet relaxed and peaceful,
simple, yielding, and half-full,
willing to be shaped
by forces profound and subtle,
allowing happenings to settle
within the clarity of still waters,

Not rushing or chasing or demanding,
yet, totally in self-control,
trusting in creation
to unfold
in nature's due time,

Row, row, row your boat
gently toward your destiny,
merrily, merrily, merrily…

Life is but a dream.
